This month I attended my first Women In Film forum in Seattle, featuring speakers perfect for my playground, writers and directors!
I enjoyed the great group of people, that also included more than a few men I might add, who were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly have a passion for their craft of film.
Here are a few notes to share:
Networking tips I picked up include working on 48 Hour Film Festivals and participating in varieties of projects that have to do with my craft, such as grant writing or promotional materials. Both have to do with writing and can foster industry friendships as well as be a business plus.
A business tip I picked up that could transfer to many types of business is; pull as much as possible from all my experiences to strengthen the current project. Sometimes a perspective from a certain experience may be just the right one needed for a job.
My evening with WIF was excellent, and I’m looking forward to my next evening at their next event.
I’ll also be posting my first 48 Hour film here, so stay tuned!
